Another important use for firemaking is for lighting candles and lanterns. These are invaluable for lighting up dark places during quests or just exploring. More on this is explained in the Lighting section further down the page.
Using a tinderbox on logs is the most effective way of training Firemaking.
TinderboxRegular Logs:
Using a tinderbox on these logs anywhere will light a fire.

Pyre logs:
Logs can be turned into Pyre Logs by using Sacred Oil on them. To light these logs you must use them on the funeral pyres which are in Mort'ton. You will also need shade remains to do this.

Cave Goblin Mining Helmet |
The Cave Goblin Mining Helmet can be found dropped by the cave goblins under Lumbridge Castle. This item will not explode in Lumbridge Swamp Caves.
To make lanterns you will need to craft a Lantern from Molten Glass using a Glassblowing pipe. If you want to make a candle lantern then use a candle on the lantern. You could then go on to use the tinderbox on the new 'candle lantern' to light it.
